Betty Academy

Founded in 1997 in honor of Rev. Prof. Godfrey Nguru’s first wife, Betty, the Academy commemorates her love for children and commitment to the goodness of God. The Academy site is in Prof. Nguru’s home village, near Embu and now serves 230 children, several of whom are orphans and vulnerable children. After the post-election violence in Kenya, several children who had lost parents were able to be taken off the streets of Nairobi and come to live here. Situated in a low income area, 40 children board at the school, offering them greater access to learning time and materials, healthy meals and medical care.
